   I wanted a lift top that was leaner in size than my current table and this fit the bill. The lower open shelf gives it an uncluttered, classic look. Color was perfect with the other furniture pieces and it was easy to put together. No damage from packing or shipping either. Very happy with this purchase

   Originally shipped without hardware to assemble, and the lower shelf was damaged. Customer service is good though, and they sent out a new shelf and the hardware. Now that I have it together it seems to work well. There is a lock to keep the top from opening which help when you move it.
   
   Assembly was easy and straightforward. No instructions needed. The only thing I could see someone doing incorrectly would be putting the weight on the wrong side. The lower shelf is weighted off center so that when the table top is raised the assembly won’t tip over. Be sure to place the weight opposite of the direction the top lifts out, for counterbalance. Example: you likely want the table top to lift towards you, so you want the weight on the lower shelf away from you

   The item’s box was open on top & it was damaged in 2 places. Had it been packed properly, I would have loved it. It was the right size & exactly what I was looking for. And if not damaged too bad, I would have opted to fix it as the price was great too. But, I had to send it back.

   I should have guessed with the many poor product reviews that I would also be any unhappy customer. Where do I begin? The shipping box was badly beaten up as if it spent many months on a stormy sea. The thinly padded styrofoam was broken in many pieces with hundreds of small styrofoam pebbles flying about. The instructions were not written by an English-speaking human. There were some chips in the veneer, but not in the obvious places. You cannot hide them with a simple stain touch-up pen because the darn thing in not real wood! Now is the kicker - in order to have a counterweight for the opening top (not really needed for this heavy table), they GLUED a 10 pound piece of flat stone to the bottom shelf. Of course, during unpacking, the stone dropped on my foot. This construction is beyond dumb, but still cost a premium price. Also, a lot of glue crust all over the bottom of the shelf, not just where the stone was glued. On the bright side, I gave it 2 stars since it looks great in the dark and has the perfect dimensions I needed. Haven't yet decided whether to return it. A big hassle packing it up again in shards of ancient cardboard. First online furniture purchase; last online furniture purchase. If the ACME Furniture Co., I'll be glad to send them pictures.

   This is a very good looking product, and the mechanics work appropriately. What doesn't work appropriately is the shipping of the product. This item ships at about 70-80 lbs, and the box has no holes by which to lift it, except for the holes that are made while it's being shipped. The packaging within the box is flimsy and in no way commensurate to the weight of the product or the fragile make-up of components such as the table-top (I did not include pictures because other reviews have the same pictures). The damage to my table top was in the same locations as the damage to the shipping box, through the protective internal packaging. I repeat, the product as a whole is as impressive as the pictures depict it, but the damage it takes while being shipped diminishes it's value before you even open the box. Good Luck!

   This table is very functional. I admit I was very harsh on the inept packaging, but outside of that this is a very good table. It has stood the test of time with my daughters & dogs. If there had been no damage upon receipt this would be an awesome buy.

   Good table

   Arrived with no broken pieces, phew.
   Good table, does extend a little high. My toddler can lift it no problems.
